January 2021 Meeting Reminder

Continuing with the State of Illinois COVID-19 Mandates, the Indian Prairie Public Library’s Genealogy Group will hold a ZOOM meeting this month. The subject is a “Meet and Greet” where everyone can bring their questions and tips on any genealogy subject to our online meeting.

You will need to register for this month’s meeting by going to your web browser and entering: ippl.libcal.com/event/7271596?hs=a

Be sure to register asap…sorry for the late notice! Before 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28th, be sure to sign into “Zoom.us” then click on “Join a Meeting”. Enter the meeting i.d./password from your registration, then click “Join”. You may be placed in a “waiting room” until the 1:00 p.m. meeting starting time. You should be shown the name of the meeting so that you will know you are in the right place.

Future meetings will continue to be held on the 4th Thursday of the month. The 2021 schedule will be published soon and a message will be sent to all those receiving this meeting reminder.

This month’s topic is “Writing Your Family Story” presented by Ann Adkesson.

On November 19, 2020, the Zoom meeting will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m.  If you have registered per the above link or telephoned (630) 887-8760, you will receive an email providing you with the Meeting ID/Password.  Be sure you have that info available when you sign on to access the meeting.  Go to “Zoom.us” and click on “Join a Meeting”.  You will be asked for the “Meeting ID or Personal Link Name”—this is where you enter the email info you received from your registration.  Then click “Join”.  You may be placed in a “waiting room” till the meeting starts. You should be shown the name of the meeting so you know you are in the right place.

May 2020 Mtg. via ZOOM

With the COVID-19 Pandemic Stay-in-Place order by the State of IL, the Indian Prairie Public Library (IPPL) continues to be closed.  However, we are going to have our regularly scheduled (Thursday, May 28th meeting) Genealogy Group meeting by Sandra Trapp on the subject of “Researching at Newberry Library” by using Zoom.   

YOU NEED to register with IPPL asap (but before May 27th) with your  E-mail address.  You can register online or by telephone.  (ippl.info/library-blogs/news—find the “register here” tab under the “Genealogy Zoom Chat Series” or call IPPL at 630-887-8760)

You should receive an E-mail  24 hours before the meeting with a link and password to access the LIVE! Zoom Meeting.

Just before 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28th, you need to sign onto Zoom.US (via cell phone app or on your computer).   After entering the link/password provided in the registration E-mail, you need to Wait to be admitted to the meeting when it begins.

There is a “Genealogy Zoom Chat Series:  An Illinois Multi-Library Event” available also.  To access this, you need to register with the Algonquin Public Library under the “Hobbies” tab or at https://www.eventbrite.com/).  The next (Second) class is on May 6th at 6:00 pm–Ancestry Library Edition.  Third Class will be on May 13th at 6:00 pm–Finding Military Records.  Fourth Class will be on May 20th at 6:00 pm–About DNA.  You need to register for each week’s class.

Please continue to follow the COVID-19 Pandemic Guidelines for social distancing, washing hands, wearing facemasks in public, etc.  Stay at home–This is how each one of us can help during this Pandemic.  Please keep every person safe and healthy!  Thank You!

 

 

 

April 2020 Mtg. Cancelled

Due to the continued COVID-19 Pandemic Stay-in-Place order by the State of IL, the Indian Prairie Public Library continues to be closed; hence, the Genealogy Group meeting that was to be held on Thursday, April 23, has been cancelled.

Keep washing your hands, using gloves/masks if you are in public, but preferrably stay at home, etc. per the COVID-19 Pandemic Guidelines.  We hope that May will bring IL a change in cases such that we may see you at the scheduled meeting on May 28, 2020.  Keep safe everyone!
